81-year-old woman hit and killed while walking along Ryan Road in Warren

WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Police say an 81-year-old woman was hit and killed while walking along the road in Warren Monday night.

The accident happened around 10:40 pm on Ryan Road, just north of 13 Mile.

Officers say Mari Juncar was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet. She was taken to St. John Hospital in Madison Heights where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as a 20-year-old man from Warren. He stayed at the scene and was not injured.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. However, officers say alcohol was not a factor.

Juncaj was from Sterling Heights. However she had been staying with family in Warren. Police say she suffered from dementia and had wandered off recently.
