Ray Township, Mich. (WXYZ) - It's the most anticipated book to hit the campus of Endeavor Middle School in Ray Township.
A book which is now in the hands of most of the students at the school, a book written by a host of 12 to 14-year-olds.
The book is called Shadows In My Backpack, it's a collection of 65 personal essays from eighth graders at the school.
Early last semester Nancy McDonald, an English teacher at the school, instructed students to write an essay.
McDonald says, "I expected just a couple amazing essays and I got dozens of essays that took my breathe away. We then spent the whole first semester researching how to publish a book.''
Their efforts paid off, and now the student authors hope, as the book circulates outside the school, other students who read it will be encouraged knowing their peers are experiencing and overcoming similar circumstances.
If you would like to get your hands on a copy of the book, you are encouraged to contact the school.
Their phone number is (586) 749-8067.
