MACOMB COUNTY, Mich (WXYZ) - An inmate at the Macomb County Jail and his girlfriend have been charged with solicitation of murder.

Deon Lamont Taylor and Kenisha Latori Faison have both been charged with three counts of Solicitation of Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Homicide - Murder First Degree.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says they wanted to kill a relative of Faison and the relative's two children.

Wickersham says Taylor wanted the woman and her kids killed because he pleaded guilty to a criminal sexual assault against one of the children and reportedly was going to withdraw his plea.

Because of that, police say, he apparently decided that if the woman and her kids were dead there would be no one to testify against him.

The plot unraveled while Taylor was behind bars. Investigators and jail deputies heard about it, looked into it and stopped it before it got too far.

Taylor and Faison could face life in prison if convicted.
