CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP (WXYZ) - What happened Saturday morning still gives Maureen Sharp nightmares.
A cable guy showed up at her house in Chesterfield Township to fix her phone line. While he was working something didn’t sit right with her. According to her, the man distracted Sharp and Sharp’s husband by telling them to check a couple TVs throughout the house.
The man remained in the bedroom. Eventually, he left her home, and Sharp says she instinctively checked her armoire right away.
Just as she thought, all of her jewelry was gone. Ten thousand of dollars worth of rings, bracelets, and necklaces were missing. “Needless to say I was extremely upset,” said Sharp. “There were a lot of sentimental pieces involved… my wedding ring of 25 years.”
Sharp was able to provide a description and the arrest was made quickly. “I really give praise to the police department,” said Sharp. “They were here so fast. They did their job. They had other police officers involved.”
According to police, when they pulled over Lequintin Randolph they found all the jewelry in his vehicle.
Police say the 22 year old suspect works for Le Com Communications contracted by Comcast. Comcast said they will not comment on someone who is not their employee.
Le Com released this statement, “Le Com Communications takes this matter very seriously. We will do whatever it takes to assist the authorities in the investigation and prosecution of this crime.”
Randolph was taken to the Macomb co jail on 5 thousand dollars bond. He will be back in court on July 30th.
