WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - For months, the family of Sandra Loepp have had their lives turned upside down.
In December, the 37-year-old mother was walking along Old Van Dyke around 1:00 am in Washington Township when she was struck by a vehicle. She had just left Santino’s Nightclub when it happened.
According to police, she was dragged less than a quarter of a mile before the driver stopped and removed her body from under the car. Investigators believe the driver left the body in the parking lot of the Washington Mobile Home Park.
Loepp left behind a husband, three sons, two stepdaughters, and dozens of loved ones. The driver has neither been caught nor come forward.
Wednesday organizers started a four day fundraiser with several activities. Some of the money will go to a Crime Stoppers reward fund. Organizers are hoping the fund will lead to more information to catch the person responsible. Another portion will go to Loepp’s kids.
Loepp’s sister, Kristy Bottle, told 7 Action News the family would like closure. She had a message for the driver.
“I’m sure that your life is turned upside down as well as ours,” said Bottle. “I can’t imagine what you must be going through living with the fact that you did this. It’s not too late to come forward.”
The family has recently formed the Justice For Sandra Loepp Foundation. They hope in the future to also help children who lose their parents at a young age.
