(WXYZ) - Washington Township firefighters battled a fire at a large home near 26 Mile Road and Mound.
Flames engulfed the house for hours.
According those who live nearby, two teens were inside when the fire broke out this morning.
The boys and their family dog were able to escape.
Dozens of concerned neighbors stepped out of their home to make sure everyone was OK.
Firefighters think the blaze started in the basement, but the cause is not known yet.
We're told the parents are in Europe.
The four-alarm fire took firefighters all day to battle.
Friday afternoon they had to wait to get into the house to put out hot spots because the home was not structurally safe.
The flames and smoke drew people all over this small community who are relieved no one was hurt.
Firefighters told 7 Action News it was a four-alarm fire because of all of the manpower that was needed.
Due to the hot weather, firefighters have been drinking a lot of water and taking a lot of breaks.
