MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Hundreds of people woke up early Saturday morning to take part in the 6th annual Tara Grant 5K Walk/Run.
Grant was reported missing by her husband, Stephen, in February 2007.
A few weeks later, police executed a search warrant at the Grant home in Washington Township and found Tara’s remains in the garage. Her remains were also discovered at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township.
Stephen Grant later confessed to police that he had strangled his wife and dismembered her body.
He is currently serving more than 50 years in prison.
Saturday morning, hundreds of people are expected to participate in an event honoring her memory.
The Tara Grant 5K Walk/Run also raises money for Turning Point, an organization that protects victims of domestic violence.
