WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren fire investigators are on the scene of a fatal fire in the 27000 block of Thomas.
That's in the area of Ryan Road and 11 Mile.
The fire gutted the family room in the front of the house. The body of the victim was found by the back door. Officials say it looks like he was trying to escape.
Family members are telling us that the victim is Ken Hakala. He was in his 50s and suffering from cancer.
A neighbors tells 7 Action News that he tried to get into the house to help, but was unable to get inside.
Sources are telling 7 Action News that the fire appears accidental in nature. However, officials say it is too early to say for sure what caused the blaze.
