WARREN (WXYZ) - A standoff at the Suez Motel in Warren has ended peacefully.
Investigators tell 7 Action News a man was holed up in a room near 8 Mile Road and Dequindre, claiming he had a high-powered weapon.
He also told officers the motel room was wired with explosives.
After a couple of hours, police lost contact with the man. That's when officers decided to enter the room. They were able to take the man into custody without incident.
7 Action News has learned the suspect is from Belleville. Police say they have had contact with him in the past.
For now, the suspect is being taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Police tell 7 Action News, officers did not find any weapons or explosives in the motel room.
