WARREN, Mich (WXYZ) - Warren Mayor Jim Fouts is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever threw a heavy garbage bag through the front picture window of the home of one of his supporters.
The home owner's "Fouts for Mayor" campaign sign was also destroyed in the incident that happened around 2:30 a.m. on July 8.
The incident happened on Meredith, south of 11 Mile Road.
In announcing the rewards, Fouts blamed the campaign of one of his opponents, saying "My main opponent, Kathy Vogt, threatened Warren voters publicly with the ‘ugliest campaign in Warren’s history’ and this is just another example of her dirty tricks campaign. I say we should be discussing issues - not engage in destructive tactics such as this."
Action News contacted Vogt for her response to the allegations. She says she did predicted that the campaign would be dirty, but that's because she thought Mayor Fouts would make it dirty. She says, "I am as outraged as he is. Why accuse me and my supporters? This is a new political low."
