ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 31-year-old mother was about to drive her two children to school is in stable condition after being carjacked in her driveway in Roseville.

The woman status was upgraded from stable to critical Friday morning.

It happened Thursday morning around 8:45 a.m.

The woman's 7-year-old and 8-year-old boys were in the car when the mother ran back into the home for an item. As she was coming out of the home, she saw a man getting into the front seat of her 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

"It happened in a matter of seconds. They must have been watching her," says Roseville Police Chief James Berlin.

The woman ran to her car screaming as she tried to stop the thieves from driving off with her children. As the suspect was driving out of the driveway, he struck the woman and ran over her legs.

According to police, the suspect jumped out of the vehicle while it was still moving. Moments later, investigators say the 8 year-old grabbed his younger brother and both jumped out of the slow moving Jeep.
Then it crashed into a utility pole.

One witness told 7 Action News "I seen two little boys jump out of the truck and run toward the freeway and then the truck just coasted along and hit that pole over there."

Witnesses at the scene say they immediately saw the suspect get picked up by a dark-colored minivan or small SUV.

The children were not hurt in the crash and are in the care of family members. Their mother was taken to a nearby hospital with head and leg injuries.

A search is under way for suspects.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Roseville Police at 586-447-4483.
