MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Edgy arts, crafts, and music of local artists will be showcased in the New Street Urban Fair to be hosted this weekend in downtown Mount Clemens.

The fair will take place on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. on New Street between Walnut and Cherry streets.

The Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority organized their first art fair to exhibit the original, hand-crafted work created by artists in the region.

Established in 1983, the city’s downtown development committee sponsors over 25 development programs and events annually to revitalize the central business district.

The New Street Art Fair is a small, mellow show that will feature indie and do-it-yourself artists in the heart of the downtown restaurant and retail district on New Street. Steve Ferdig of Heads Up Boutique in downtown Mount Clemens came up with the concept of the street art fair from innovative, contemporary artwork that he admired and wanted to bring to the city.

Many of the creative, hipster-like businesses of downtown Mount Clemens are located on New Street including Rock Art Gallery, Chaos Studio Salon, and Detroit Ink making the area a perfect scene for an art event.

Vendor spaces are available for $35 now through the morning of the fair. Information regarding vendor participation is available here.

For more information on the New Street Urban Fair, contact the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority at (586) 469-4168.
