Selfridge battles three cases of Legionnaires' disease

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - People living in the area around Selfridge Air National Guard Base can expect to hear sirens and loud voices this Friday, December 21.
Officials say that airmen at the facility will be testing the base's sirens and "giant voice" speaker system. The system test is expected to be conducted between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
It's possible the sirens could cause alarm to people who hear them as December 21 is the date cited in the Mayan calendar for the end of the world.
However, most academics discount the possibility, calling it either a misread of the Mayan calendar or a hoax gone viral.
