One person killed in violent crash in Shelby Township

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - One person was killed in a violent crash at Hall Road and Mound Tuesday.

A 56-year-old woman from Shelby Township died in the accident.

A police officer was in the area at the time of the crash and says he saw a Ford Flex hit a Saturn on southbound Mound near M-59.

The officer and some witnesses rushed to help get the Saturn back on its wheels after it flipped on its side and came to rest on a fence.

The woman in the Saturn had already perished by the time officer's could check on her.

The driver of the Ford Flex suffered minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
