ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich., (WXYZ) - Multiple crews were called the scene of a popular Macomb County Bar Thursday morning.
Flames engulfed Gilbert's Lodge on Harper Avenue just south of 9 Mile.
The store manager says they closed the building around 2:20 a.m. Fire crews received the call to respond around 4:20 a.m.
Without a smoke alarm system, there's no way to know how long the fire was burning by the time crews got there.
The St. Clair Shores Fire Chief George Morehouse said the building underwent extensive damage, and a lot of cleanup will be required.
Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen and don't think it is suspicious.
Harper Road was closed for a short time but it is back open.
