WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren city hall is closing for the day because of a power outage.
The power outage is affecting the downtown area of the city. Because of it, the city hall has been operating on a backup generator.
In a statement, Warren Mayor Jim Fouts says DTE expects it will take several hours to get the power turned back on. Because of that he is ordering the closure of city hall and sending all employees home.
The power outage also triggered a power surge to city hall. This has caused several problems with computers running the elevators, lighting system and the HVAC system.
The elevators in the parking structure are also not working and the Civic Center Library is also without power.
