(WXYZ) - A procession was held Friday in honor of fallen New Baltimore Police Officer Patrick Wisniewski.
The procession began at noon at the Gendernalik Funeral Home on 23 Mile Road and continues to Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Public visitation will be held at the base from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A stop was made at 21 Mile and Jefferson to lay flowers where Wisniewski has hit and killed in a traffic crash.
A church service was held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Baltimore.
Officer Patrick Wisniewski Sr., 33, was killed in an accident on Jefferson Ave. near 21 Mile Rd. in Chesterfield Township at around 9:30 p.m on Sunday, June 2.
Gerald Lee Belcher, 64, was making a left-hand turn off of Jefferson onto 21 Mile Road when he reportedly struck the officer. He was driving on a suspended license. Belcher is facing felony charges including; Operating with License Suspended Causing Death and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death.
Officer Wisniewski was a Police Reserve Officer who served with the New Baltimore Police Department for the last two years.
He also served 15 years with the United States Air Force Active Guard Reserve 127th Security Forces Squadron at Selfridge ANG Base, where he had obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Wisniewski is survived by a wife and five children. Funeral arrangements are pending, but it has been announced that Gendernalik Funeral Home will be holding a visitation, details of which are still be worked out.
An account for donations for the family has been established through Michigan's Thin Blue Line at PNC Bank.
Donations can be made at any PNC Bank. They can also be made at the New Baltimore Police Department at 37885 Green St. in New Baltimore or through the Thin Blue Line at P.O. Box 415 in Howell.
