STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Sterling Heights Police Department tells 7 Action News that human remains were discovered in a sewer line along 15 Mile Road, east of Maple Lane.
Workers from the Inland Water Pollution Control found the remains on Wednesday, September 25 while making repairs to the sewer system.
Police say the remains belong to a Caucasian person. The remains have been turned over to the Macomb County Medical Examiner's office for examination.
The incident is similar to two previous cases in Sterling Heights and Warren, where human remains were also found back in August of 2012.
The cases appear similar in nature.
Police say there is a strong possibility that the remains may be medical waste that were improperly disposed.
