MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Macomb County Prosecutor has charged a St. Clair Shores attorney with stealing $400,000 from a trust that was set up for two teenage boys.
Robert Buschmohle has been charged with Embezzlement over $100,000. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Police and prosecutors say Buschmohle was appointed as sole trustee of a living trust that was made to benefit two young men from Warren.
He is accused of writing check to himself from the trust fund over the course of four years. Prosecutors say Buschmohle eventually drained the account of $389,000.
Police say the theft was discovered when the boys' mother attempted to contact Buschmohle to find out how and when the boys would receive their money because they were about to turn 19.
Officials say Buschmohle would not return her calls, so she contacted the Attorney Grievance Commission, who contacted Warren Police.
Buschmohle is set to be arraigned in 37th District Court in Warren.
