( Clinton Township- WXYZ) - Firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire in Clinton Township.

It happened just before 6 Saturday morning at the Rivercrest Arms Apartment Complex.

Neighbors say they heard arguing between a couple in a downstairs apartment.  Moments later there was a fire.

Several people were trapped upstairs in the smoke-filled building.  One woman who recently underwent hip-replacement surgery had to jump to safety according to one witness.  She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A police dog trained to detect accelerents found evidence the fire was set in that apartment on purpose.  Investigators say they will wait for lab tests to make an official ruling.

The man neighbors say they believe is responsible was arrested for domestic violence.
