WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - For the second time, the South East Oakland County Fraternal Order of Police - Lodge 130 is hosting a charity bike rally and softball tournament.
The Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Lansing is benefiting from the event called "Cops on a Run" on Saturday, August 11.
The bike race begins at 8:00 a.m. at FOP Lodge 130 Ferndale and travels through the memorial site in Lansing ending in Halmich Park in Warren.
A softball tournament concludes the race and begins the celebration. Food, beverages, raffles, prizes and more will be available at the park.
"This event will bring awareness to the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and the need to raise funds to begin the construction. To date there are over 500 fallen officers in Michigan that we feel must be memorialized," says chairman Robert James.
All are invited to attend, even if you are not a biker. Biker registration is $25, biker with a passenger registration is $40 and only an after party ticket is $20. Registration includes refreshments throughout the day and a T-shirt.
