(WXYZ) - Officials with the Monroe County Sheriff's office say they have found a body in the water in the area where a man disappeared on Wednesday night.
The scene in on Swan Creek, near Newport.
The body is believed to be that of Jimmy Vandozen. However, the medical examiner has not yet confirmed the identity..
Witnesses told 7 Action News that Vandozen jumped into the water to help an 8-year-old boy who was drifting away from a boat. The 36-year-old's shoulder apparently went out and he went under.
The boy was the son of the Vandozen's girlfriend. They were apparently on the water to watch the fireworks near the Swan Boat Club.
