MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) - "Not a day goes by that i don't think about her," says Jennifer Buchanan, the mother of Nevaeh Buchanan.
"I want justice for Nevaeh more than anyone," she says.
Thursday marks three years since Nevaeh disappeared. The 5-year-old was playing outside her apartment building when she was abducted. There were massive searches for her, but less than two weeks later fisherman found her body in a shallow grave along the River Raisin.
"It has been three years ... no new information, no arrests," she says.
Soon after Nevaeh's disappearance, investigators named some persons of interest in the case - including sex offenders George Kennedy and Roy Smith. Both were known to Jennifer Buchanan's, but they were never charged. Both are now locked up on unrelated cases.
"I think they have answers. I can't tell you for sure if they had anything to do with it," says Jennifer Buchanan.
"In my heart I still believe they have great deal to do with it," says Sherry Buchanan, Nevaeh's grandmother.
Nevaeh's loved ones say they will never give up on solving this mystery. They say they will continue to hold on to hope that someone will come forward with the truth.
"If this person is listening, you need to come clean," says Sherry Buchanan.
"There's no closure. There's always going to be a huge hole in my heart ... even if they find out who did it. There's still going to be an empty piece inside me," says Jennifer Buchanan.
