(WXYZ) - Investigators in Monroe County are looking into a possible case of animal abuse.

Six calves were found dead and several others were malnourished at the farm in Temperance.

Deputies say the farm’s owner claimed he couldn’t afford food for the animals anymore.

The investigation has now been turned over to the county’s animal control unit.

So far, no charges have been filed.

Members of the animal rights group “CHAIN” say they want to help place the surviving animals in homes where they can receive the proper care.
