FARMINGTON, Mich., (WXYZ) - Police say a suspect is in custody after standoff in Farmington Thursday.
They were called to a home on Hawthorne near Grand River around 7 a.m. on a reported domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.
“Some type of assault-like activity had taken place. It’s too early in the investigation to give exact details," said Director of Public Safety for the City of Farmington, Robert Schultz.
However, Schulz told Action News, they were cautious after reports of weapons inside the home. There were also reports the suspect had been using drugs and alcohol.
For several hours Thursday morning, officers could be seen at nearby homes keeping watch on the suspect's house.
Around 10 a.m. Special Response Team officers from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department arrived followed by deputies, an armored truck and mobile command center.
“The Oakland County Sheriff’s Special Weapons and Tactical Team responded and they were able to approach the house safely and upon doing so they were able to make contact and order the suspect out.”
