BERKLEY, Mich. (WXYZ) - A local high school senior is devastated when someone steals the race car she, her dad and brother have put their hearts and hard work into.
18-year-old Molly Straight is devastated at the loss of her precious 1986 Monte Carlo, a car she planned to race this weekend.
Someone stole the car from the student parking lot of Berkley High School.
Molly's brother bought the car for her when she was just 13-years-old. She and her father and her brother have worked on it non-stop for five years to get it ready to race at the High School Nationals in Milan.
She drove it to school Monday, parked in the student lot and when she came out it was gone. "My heart dropped," said Molly. "I felt like a family member was taken", said Molly's father Ben.
The car is burgundy on the outside and pink on the underside.
Both she and her dad are hoping someone will return it, even if it's been stripped, they just want it back. Molly says she feels like a part of her is missing.
