WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned that an autopsy has determined that the man accused of killing a West Bloomfield Township Police officer killed himself.
Police sources say Rick Coley died of a gunshot wound to the mouth. The autopsy was complete Tuesday morning.
Coley's body was found by an Oakland County Sheriff's Department SWAT team in a bed in his home Monday evening.
He held police at bay for almost a day after a deadly encounter with police officers Sunday evening.
Police say Coley killed Officer Patrick O'Rourke when he fired at police through a door when officers responded to a call for help from Coley's mother and brother.
Coley's family had come to the home to move him to North Carolina following his divorce, which was finalized earlier this month.
