WALLED LAKE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Convicted sex offender Bruce Stanley appeared in court via video link on charges he tried to secretly videotape kids at a gymnastics event at Walled Lake Central High School.
Stanley appeared confused at the hearing – and even tried to plead guilty.
The incident allegedly occurred last week. A gymnastics coach says he confronted Stanley after noticing him with a camera focused on the kids.
Stanley apparently tried to hide the camera and kept recording. The coach called 911 and police arrested him. This brush with the law is hardly Stanely’s first.
He has a criminal record that dates back to 1984. Among the convictions are burglary and exposing himself to minors.
The 45-year-old also has untreated mental health issues including Schizophrenia.
Stanley is being held on $250,000 bond.
