ROYAL OAK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Zoo is welcoming runners and walkers to its Royal Oak campus Sunday for annual Run Wild for the Detroit Zoo event. The fun includes 5K and 10K runs as well as a noncompetitive 1.5-mile Fun Walk.
Those taking part in the 5K and 10K events start at the zoo's 10 Mile Road entrance and wind through the streets of Huntington Woods surrounding the zoo. Walkers follow a course that leads them past animal habitats.
Medals will be presented to the top two male and female finishers in each age category. All participants receive a
commemorative T-shirt and free admission to the zoo on race day.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Zoo's Ruth Roby Glancy Animal Health Complex and veterinary care. You can get more information by visiting http://www.detroitzoo.org/runwild
