ROYAL OAK, Mich., (WXYZ) - The Detroit Zoo announced a $10 million donation Wednesday to be used toward a state-of-the-art penguin conservation exhibit.
The new penguin house is set to be the largest exhibit in the zoo's 85-year history. Stephen and Bobbi Polk's donation will account for nearly half of it's $21 million projected cost.
The current penguin exhibit was one-of-a-kind when it was built in the 1960s. The penguins' new home is expected to be finished in 2015.
