LAKE ORION, Mich. (WXYZ) - Lake Orion Police say they arrested a mother for driving with a blood alcohol content over four time the legal limit while her child was in the back seat Sunday.
A 47-year-old Orion Township woman was arrested after police received a 911 call reporting a reckless and erratic driver along Perry St. near Atwater.
The suspect, driving a Chevrolet Equinox, reportedly drove across a sidewalk, into a yard and back onto the road, nearly missing a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction - according to the 911 caller.
She was arrested in a parking lot near M-24 and Atwater where the officer found her with her head laying on the steering wheel and her 9-year-old son in the back seat, not wearing his seatbelt.
The suspect blew a .36 blood alcohol content on the breathalyzer.
Chief Jerry Narsh said “That is enough alcohol consumed to get more than four adults arrested for drunk driving. It is amazing that no one was injured or killed including her and her child, based on her driving behavior."
She was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a child less than 16-years-old.
The child was released to his father's care.
