FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Ferndale police are warning businesses about a man who is conducting a phone scam in the area.
Police say the man comes in and asks to use the phone to call a tow truck because his car has broken down. Officers say he then call forwards the business's number to another phone line so that he can place overseas calls.
As a result of the tampering, the business is charged for the overseas calls.
Officers say the man hit two businesses in the area of 9 Mile and Woodward at around 11:30 a.m on Saturday.
He is described as a white man in the 30s with a cut on his right eyebrow.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Ferndale Police.
