NOVI, Mich. (WXYZ) - Later this morning, we’ll learn more about the new Great Lakes State Fair.

Last week, Blair Bowman, owner of the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, announced plans to hold the Great Lakes State Fair at his facility over Labor Day weekend. He said he would donate the use of the expo, conference and banquet center. At 9 a.m. today, Bowman will be providing more details about the event.

The Michigan State Fair, which debuted in Detroit in 1849, was one of the oldest state fairs in the United States. It was last held in 2009 in Detroit.
