HOLLY, Mich. (WXYZ) - A man from Holly has been charged with federal felony crimes related to distribution of child pornography.
Allan Cole, 45, is formally charged with production and possession of child pornography, as well as being a knowing recipient of child pornography.
Those three charges all carry a minimum of 15 years in prison. Cole is also accused of transferring obscene material to a minor, which holds a maximum 10 year sentence.
The information came to light from a joint investigation between Holly Police, the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office in Idaho and the FBI.
Cole allegedly was communicating with a minor over the Internet. According to Holly Police, the two sent sexually explicit images to one another.
Cole was previously convicted of a misdemeanor for Furnishing Obscenity to Children in 2006, and successfully completed his probation for that conviction. He did not have to register as a sex offender for that crime.
A federal detention hearing will take place on Wednesday at the United States District Court in Wayne County.
Until then, Cole is being held at the Wayne County Jail.
