FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - An Oak Park man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly pulled a knife on another man during a reported case of bicycle road rage in Ferndale.
David R. Simmons, 69, was sent for psychiatric evaluation after his arraignment on Saturday.
On Friday, Simmons claimed another cyclist cut him off near the intersection of 9 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, according to Ferndale police.
Police say Simmons yelled an obscenity at the other man and rode away. The man followed Simmons and then walked up to him to confront Simmons about the name-calling when Simmons got off of his bike and jabbed at him with a knife.
Simmons rode away after the confrontation, but officers caught up with him a short distance away, police say.
