Local man with a giving spirit wins big on Oprah's Ultimate Favorite Things Show!

Menachem Kniespeck still can't believe he ended up on Oprah Winfrey's Ultimate Favorite Things show!

He is the founder and director of Operation Kid Equip in Troy, an organization that provides free school supplies, books, hygiene and food items for local children in need. Back in August, we told you all about Operation Kid Equip .

"It was amazing!" says Kniespeck.

His director of operations, Joshua Tokoph, nominated him on Oprah's website as someone who's a local hero. Out of thousands of nominations, Tokoph says Oprah herself hand picked those who would be in the audience. Earlier this week, Kniespeck and Tokoph were flown to Chicago for a "show on heroes".

Only after the taping began did they discover they were there for Oprah's Ultimate Favorite Things episode.
