FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Harrison High School senior Mikey Vasovski was planning to have a party at his house Friday night, but he says it wasn't supposed to be a huge gathering.

However, he called it "Project M", a name similar to the new movie "Project X", which is about some teens who throw a wild party to make a name for themselves.

Vasovski says it wasn't intended to be a Project X-like party though.

He says it all started earlier this week with some texts to his friends about the party. Then he announced it on Twitter as #ProjectM and within minutes it was retweeted again and again.

It got so out of control that the Project M party reportedly became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter.

Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus got calls from people as far away as California inquiring about the party.

"I think half the world has contacted me to tell me about the party so that’s a good thing," says Chief Nebus.

The police were outside the Vasovski home on Thursday because kids were showing up. The cops were also back there Friday letting people know that the party has been canceled.

7 Action News spoke with Mikey's dad, Goran.

"I’m a little bit angry at him. I’m gonna talk to him to make sure he understands what the internet can do," he says.

Mikey Vasovski is now sending a different message and says he's sorry for all that happened.
