NOVI, Mich. (WXYZ) -

Shoppers might have gone to the malls to return unwanted gifts, but many were lured to do some spending by retailers offering deep discounts.

Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi was packed Monday afternoon.

Some shoppers said it took them 30 minutes to find a parking spot, but once they got inside, many were pleased by the discounted deals.

Today is billed as “Mega Monday” by retailers who hope shoppers will redeem their new gift cards. And although some $46-billion worth of gifts are expected to be returned nationwide this season, retailers are still counting on brining in some serious sales this week.

Typically the week after Christmas makes up 10% of holiday sales.
