TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - Microsoft has announced that one of their five new retail stores will be coming to the Detroit area.

The software giant says they will be building a store at The Somerset Collection in Troy. No details about the store, or when it will open, have been released.

The other new stores will be in Massachusetts, Hawaii, Oregon and Illinois.

This will be the first Microsoft store in Michigan. Microsoft currently has stores in 28 states. The first store opened in Scottsdale, Arizona in October 2009.

When the Microsoft store opens, it will be in direct competition with one of the company's biggest rivals.

An Apple store is already in operation at The Somerset Collection.
