SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - Southfield police are investigating a deadly accident that happened Sunday morning on Telegraph north of 8 Mile.
Police say a car traveling northbound on Telegraph hit another vehicle in the northbound lane and then crashed into a white SUV, causing the driver of the SUV to strike a tree in the median.
The driver of the SUV was extricated from her vehicle and taken to the hospital. She died of her injuries.
Her identity has not been released.
Police say the driver who caused the accident exited his vehicle and ran away from the scene, but officers arrested him a short time later.
He is in custody waiting to be charged, but police have not said what charges he will face.
Northbound Telegraph was shut down for more than three hours while police investigated the cause of the accident.
