(WXYZ) - Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has been released from McLaren Oakland hospital.

L. Brooks Patterson has spent the last five weeks in the hospital recovering from a car accident, where he received serious injuries.

The crash took place August 10 at the intersection of Walton and Opdyke in Auburn Hills.

Brooks Patterson will continue physical therapy.

Anthony Prainito of Royal Oak was charged in connection with the August car crash in Auburn Hills that severely injured Patterson and his driver James Cram.

Prainito was charged with three counts of Moving Violation Causing Serious Impairment of a Bodily Function.
