ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Oakland University says the school anticipates that it will top the 20,000-student mark for the first time in its history.
The suburban Detroit school says Thursday the update comes after it enrolled its largest freshmen class ever at 2,542 first-time students. The school says it helped to give the university its 15th consecutive year of enrollment growth, up 1.8 percent from last year.
The school's Interim President Betty J. Youngblood says the 20,000-student milestone is a "defining moment for Oakland University."
