ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) - A plan to build a new hotel in downtown Royal Oak is on the agenda at City Hall Tuesday night.

The firm, Krieger Klatt Architects, is looking to build an eight-story hotel complex at 400 N. Main Street, which is the site of the former Fresard car dealership.

In 2011, Kroger proposed turning the site into a store, but the project faced backlash from the community and was ultimately rejected by city leaders.

The proposed hotel complex would include 114 guest rooms. Building plans also include an eight-story apartment building with 82 units, a five-story building used for office space and a restaurant, and a parking garage.

The Planning Commission meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.
