PONTIAC (WXYZ) - Police say two men attacked a woman while she was walking in a Pontiac neighborhood around 11 a.m. Sunday.

The incident happened along Lois and Shirley.  According to investigators, the suspects then raped her.

One neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told 7 Action News she saw the 39-year-old victim in the same area moments before and after the attack.

“When I was walking from the store she was fine and by the time I came back out of the house, she was laying right here in the middle of the street.  The ambulance and everything pulled up and she was laid out crying,” said the unidentified neighbor.

Police say after the men raped the victim, they dumped her in the roadway.

“You don’t have to violate nobody like that and scar nobody like that for the rest of their life,” said neighbor James Long.  “Then you’re subject to go to the penitentiary for the rest of your life.”

A rape kit was completed on the woman and she was sent to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the brutal attack has many in the neighborhood angered and on edge.

“People need to step up,” said Long.  “One day it’s going to come to your house.  We’ve got to come together and try to get rid of all of this unwanted crime.”

There is no one in custody for this case.

The identities of the suspects are not known.  Police want anyone in the neighborhood who witnessed the incident to call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
