FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 33-year-old woman is facing drunk driving charges after, officers say, she hit a police officer with her SUV.

Aimee Sturm has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated.

Ferndale Police say officers were dispersing a crowd at the corner of E. Breckenridge and Woodward when the accident happened.

The injured officer was walking across Breckenridge when, police say, a Dodge Durango turned from northbound Woodward onto eastbound Breckenridge and headed straight for the officer.

The officer then began signaling and yelling for the SUV to stop. However, police say the vehicle continued on and hit the officer before driving into a parking lot.

That's where officers stopped the SUV. Police say after stopping Sturm she seemed unaware that she had hit anyone.

A breath test was administered and, police say, the results showed Sturm had a blood alcohol level of .21.

She has been arraigned on the charges and bond was set at $750.

The officer suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the hospital and released.
