PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - Attorneys for Blue Cross Blue Shield are debating their next step after losing a court case against a physical therapy company that accused the health care provider of interfering with their business.

Only Action News cameras were in court as a jury found in favor of TheraMatrix Physical Therapy, which is headquartered in Pontiac.

In 2008, TheraMatrix sued Blue Cross Blue Shield for breach of contract regarding a deal the company had with Ford and for interfering with the company's negotiations with Chrysler, preventing them from getting a contract with that automaker.

TheraMatrix was seeking $15 million in damages. Today, a jury awarded TheraMatrix $4.5 million.

"What it is, is the beginning of Blue Cross being forced to face the consequences of their predatory action," says TheraMatrix attorney Roger Young.

Blue Cross Blue Shield attorney Laurie Parmely says the company is extremely disappointed with the verdict.

Parmely tells Action News "We don't think it actually reflects the facts as presented to them. We will review the record and find if there are any grounds to appeal."
