MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) - Rewards are being offered for information about the fatal shooting of a Michigan prison worker outside his suburban Detroit home.

The Michigan Corrections Organization union announced Thursday that it was offering a $5,000 reward. Authorities say 33-year-old Clarence Hammond III died from a gunshot wound to the head Saturday.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $2,500 reward.

The shooting happened at the President Madison Apartment Complex in Madison Heights. Investigators were investigating whether Hammond's work as a corrections officer was a factor in his killing.

Investigators say robbery also may have been a motive.
