AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Five happy, healthy horses need some folks to step forward and give them some love and a new home.

“Everybody has enjoyed having them here. Now they need permanent homes so they can get the TLC (tender loving care) they need,” said Sgt. Joanie Toole from Oakland County Animal Control.

The horses were rescued back in September from Rose Township. The animals were very sick and malnourished. But in just a few months Sgt. Toole and her staff have nursed the horses back to health.

“They’ve gained a lot of weight and they’re pretty frisky,” Toole said.

Eight horses have found new homes, leaving just five at the Oakland County Animal Control facility in Auburn Hills. Toole says adoption is a big commitment, but worth it.

“These are kind of hard to place horses. I have a blind horse, two pregnant mares that take a lot of resources and one that needs to be broke and that’s not for everybody,” Toole said.

As for the woman accused of making the horses ill, she’s not allowed to own or care for an animal for several years. Toole says she’s on probation.

If you’re interested in adopting you can call 248-391-4102.
