WALLED LAKE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Walled Lake Consolidated Schools have sent a letter home with students saying that a registered sex offender was ejected from Walled Lake Central High School on Thursday.

The letter says that the individual, who is not identified, was videotaping a gymnastics event.

The superintendent, Kenneth Gutman tells 7 Action News the man was asked if he was a parent and said no. He was asked to stop taping but reportedly continued by hiding the camera under his coat.

The team coach called 911 and Sheriff Deputies came and questioned the man. That's when they found out he was on the sex offender registry.

He was then asked to leave and told to never come back.

The District has sent a letter to the man banning him from all Walled Lake Consolidated School District facilities effective immediately.

Deputies say they questioned the man a second time, this time at his home and will now send all the information to the prosecutor on Monday.  There is a chance he was violating the stipulations for registered sex offenders.

Officials have notified all of the parents of the gymnastics students.

In the letter that was sent home on Friday, Walled Lake Schools says they regularly monitor the list of sex offenders who live within the boundaries of the district. The district also says that sign-in procedures are in place at all of the schools to ensure that strangers do not enter.
