MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) - How about a workout with your times tables?
Lessenger Elementary School in Madison Heights is really thinking outside the box when it comes to the way their students learn.
The 1st grade teaching team led by 21-year teaching veteran Cindy Woodrow, has swapped out their classroom seats for yoga balls.
"They help me focus on my paper instead of something else" said 1st grade yoga ball user Marley Lange.
Studies show using stability balls instead of chairs can help students have better focus.
All three of Lessenger's 1st grade classes have been on the balls since January and finding them to increase concentration and core strength in students.
For those who get tired, there are always chairs.
